Sentir Venezuela

Sentir Venezuela Cultural Group is a non-profit organization that wants to express, promote and encourage interest in Venezuelan culture in Canada, through their traditional music and dances. Their performances are joyful, energetic, colourful, vibrant, always smiling and bringing Venezuela in their hearts. SV performs the different styles of Afro-Venezuelan rhythms, such as Calipso, Parranda and Drums, and Joropo, their national dance, Venezuelan Waltz and more.

10 years ago, Sentir Venezuela was born as an initiative in the Venezuelan community of Toronto; having an artistic representation that promoted and highlighted the traditional Venezuelan music and dance. SV provides classes for adults and children, and performances at cultural and private events. You can follow them on www.sentirvenezuela.ca. On Facebook Sentir Venezuela-Dance Group @sentirvzla/ Instagram.

Sentir Venezuela Dance Company is made up of 9 dancers and 7 musicians from different ages and backgrounds. Their styles vary from Venezuelan, Latin-American, Flamenco Dance, to Classical, Contemporary, Jazz, among others.

Our art form is inspired by our roots. It is a fusion of different cultures, because of the mixed race that lived in the country after the Spanish Colony. It has European, African, Aboriginal and Caribbean influences. It is rich in a variety of rhythms and styles, from intense drums, dancing on bare feet; cheerful and colourful Calipso, to classical and refined dance movements, such as Fandango and Waltz.

Year after year, we have left the name of Venezuela on top. We have consecutively performed in more than 10 shows per year; including festivals, cultural, corporate, private and charitable events. We have fostered love for Venezuela to our children, the future Venezuelan Canadian. generations. We have shared our art with the Canadian cultural collage, and we wish to show the beautiful side of our country of origin. We always dedicate our performances to all Venezuelan people affected by the current humanitarian crisis.
