Salsa in Toronto is bringing back its crowd-favorite, non-stop free street dance lessons to Market Street for three vibrant Fridays. On these fun-filled evenings, the historic St. Lawrence neighborhood will once again come alive with the irresistible energy of Latin dance and music. And don’t miss the big finale on Sunday, August 10, an incredible day packed with live bands, DJs, salsa classes, and high-energy performances that will turn Market Street into a full-on Latin street party!

Dailyn Martinez and Robert Brohman started Shumdesalsa in 2016 with the goal of spreading Cuban Casino (salsa) and Afro Cuban rhythms. Born in Güines, Cuba, Dailyn graduated from the National School of Art and Variety, renowned for developing Cuban artistic talent. Later she danced for the internationally acclaimed Havana Nights performance group.

DJ NILSON
Born in the Dominican Republic, DJ Nilson arrived in Canada in 1998 with a deep passion for salsa. A former professional dancer, he began his DJ career in Toronto in 2001. With a collection of over 4,000 rare salsa records, his sets blend New York, Puerto Rican, Boogaloo, Latin Soul, and Latin Jazz. He’s performed across North America and Europe, always with deep respect for the dancers.
SALSA & SABOR
Salsa & Sabor is a Toronto-based Colombian dance academy founded in 2019. It promotes Colombian culture through styles like salsa Caleña, salsa choke, and champeta. Offering online and in-person classes in Spanish, the academy connects and inspires those eager to learn Latin dance and experience Colombia’s vibrant cultural expressions.
LOS DANDIES
Los Dandies is a Toronto-based Latin band formed in 2022. Led by Venezuelan singer Ricardo Barboza, they blend salsa, bachata, merengue, and more with multicultural flair. Performing in Spanish, English, and Portuguese, they’re known for high-energy shows and a sound that reflects Toronto’s vibrant diversity.
CUMBIA POWER
Cumbia Power is a 10-piece band that brings the joy and energy of cumbia and tropical rhythms to Canada. With vibrant live shows and authentic Latin sounds—from trumpets to timbales—they create an irresistible atmosphere that invites everyone to dance, celebrate, and feel the spirit of Latin music.
