As Canada’s favourite Latin-themed street dance party, the TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival returns with a stellar lineup of over 350 Canadian and international music/dance artists featuring new and returning crowd favourites.  Performers include Marta Elena brining the rhythms of Havana to Toronto, Montreal Latin icon Lu Jayan y Su Clan Latino, and “the bad boys of Salsa” Salseros with Attitude. Also performing is Dance Migration with the electrifying Brazilian Samba, Salsa Explosion Kids Troupe’ all the way from Winnipeg, and urban Latin group Papaya Sound Experience, Latin Swing Orchestra, and Bachata Swing Toronto. And for the first time ever, don’t miss Batucada Carioca and Berimbalada performances from Capoeira Bamba bringing Rio de Janeiro to St. Clair Ave West.

July 9th & Sun. July 10th.

The anticipated in-person return of the TD Salsa in Toronto Festival after two successful virtual editions features a jam-packed lineup of events throughout the GTA and surrounding areas celebrating Latin Culture in Canada.  Highlights include the BONITA Latin art exhibition at the Art of Emotions Gallery which features nearly 40 local Hispanic Visual Artists; in addition to Salsa Before and After parties at Lula Lounge, and FREE dance lessons across the GTA, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Halton Regions all in preparation for the FREE TD Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival Weekend on July 9th & 10th!

Canada’s favourite Latin street party is back to heat up the summer! Celebrating its 18th edition, the annual FREE TD Salsa on St. Clair takes over midtown Toronto’s Hillcrest Village transforming a stretch of St. Clair Avenue West (from Winona Dr. to Christie St.) into Canada’s biggest salsa party! The festival showcases an international calibre of Latin music, non-stop dancing in the streets, Latin foods, and fun for the entire familia! Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the events sector, the ultimate Latin fiesta of the year continues virtually with the support of longstanding partners TD Bank Group and TLN TV, bringing the magic of Salsa into the homes of millions of Canadians. Continuing with the TD Salsa in Toronto Festival tradition of non-stop dancing in the streets, we are thrilled to bring the party into the homes of Canadians from coast to coast, featuring a wide variety of dancers and dance schools to ensure that you don’t miss a Salsa beat! This year, the festival is proud to feature some of the youngest Salseros in festival history, sharing performances from Salsa Explosion Kids. Founded by Pro Am World Salsa Champion Ana Lopez in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Salsa Explosion Kids are a well-known and successful local dance school who have won multiple gold medals in solo, couple, and team categories at the 2019 and 2020 Canadian Salsa and Bachata Congress. The salsa dance party would not be complete without an appearance from multi-World Salsa Champions Adriano Leropoli & Samantha Scali of Montreal, Quebec. Adriano and Samantha are the first Canadian partners to have won a world title in the Professional Salsa On2 division, placing first at the 2017, 2018, and 2019 World Salsa Summit. The TD Salsa in Toronto Festival is incredibly proud to share the talents of Salseros of all ages and experience levels at this year’s festival.

As the Festival soon approaches, TD Salsa in Toronto’s #KeepDancingCanada campaign is in full swing as the many performers and participants of the 2021 edition are busy sharing micro segments on what Salsa means to them across social and digital media platforms. The Canadian Salsa Festivals Project (CSFP) and TLN TV have once again joined forces with TD Bank Group to present the virtual TD Salsa in Toronto Festival, bringing the best of Latin dance, music, arts and culture to millions of homes across Canada and beyond. The month-long fiesta counts down to the ultimate virtual salsa party airing nationally on TLN TV and streamed worldwide on tln.ca on Saturday, July 10th at 4P/et and Sunday, July 11th at 1P/et.

Amidst the cancellation of most of Toronto’s summer festivals due to COVID-19 safety restrictions, the TD Salsa in Toronto Festival is bigger than ever! The virtual festival broadcast will be hosted by TLN TV personality Camila Gonzalez and long-time festival co-host Ivan Wanis-Ruiz.

The vibrant lineup will feature musical performances with internationally acclaimed and local Canadian artists with appearances from three-time Latin Grammy winner Pedro Capo and iHeartRadio Music Award winner Manuel Turizo. This year’s lineup of performances is also incredibly proud to welcome Juno Award winner OKAN, who recently took home the 2021 Award for World Music Album of the year at the awards last Sunday.

TD Salsa in Toronto is also proud to feature the work of Clandestinos, a Latinx visual artist duo featuring Bruno Smoky, originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Shalak Attack of Chilean decent. Clandestinos are no strangers to the global art-scene with their art murals displayed in countries all over the world including Canada, Brazil, Chile, and Belgium, sharing their beautiful illustrations depicting landscapes and portraiture in both real and their own imaginary dimensions.

The festivities kick off this month with the new Mas Salsa Live Lessons series on Facebook Live, featuring FREE weekly dance classes for Salseros from coast to coast with special guests Ritmo Caliente, Zumba Pa’Ca and Grupo Yambeque. TLN Media Group, TD Bank Group and the Canadian Salsa Festivals Project (CSFP) have once again partnered up to deliver a sizzling lineup of virtual events running from May through to July. Events culminate on Saturday July 10th and Sunday July 11th with an exclusive two-day festival broadcast special that will bring TD Salsa in Toronto into millions of homes across Canada; airing nationally on TLN TV and streamed on tln.ca.

The TD Salsa in Toronto Festival proudly continues to support Canadian talent by helping local artists overcome the ongoing challenges faced during the pandemic. We proudly shine a spotlight on Latinx artists from across the country and provide them with a stage to share their artistry with the world.

(TORONTO, ON) May 25, 2020 – With summer looming and Toronto’s festivals at a halt due to COVID-19, The Canadian Salsa Festivals Project (CSFP) invites Canadians to `Keep Dancing` with today`s announcement that the salsa party will go on! Canada’s largest celebration of Latin culture – the TD Salsa in Toronto Festival – will take place virtually on July 18th & 19th delivering a TV and Digital Festival Experience for Canadians across the country.

Longstanding co-founding festival partner TLN Television has once again signed on to work with the CFSP, making the first virtual TD Salsa in Toronto Festival accessible to Canadians across the country on TV and digital platforms.

The virtual celebration of Latin culture will be broadcast nationally on TLN Media Group`s TLN TV channel as a televised event taking TD Salsa in Toronto into the homes of salsa lovers. The festival will also be streamed worldwide at tln.ca and across the festival`s social channels.

This year’s unique festival format proudly continues to support local artists during these unprecedented times, a mandate that has been important to TD Salsa in Toronto throughout its history. The vibrant lineup celebrates Latino culture through musical performances, salsa class instructions, authentic food recipe demonstrations, Latin art exhibits, colourful cultural parade features, special guest segments throughout the broadcast and of course non-stop dancing!
