Soraya Lozano is the founder and artistic director of Inspiracion Latina Dance Company and Estampa Peruana. She is a versatile and highly trained dancer, instructor and choreographer.
Soraya is the award winner of the Toronto Waterfront Awards 2018 – Celebrating Outstanding Women – in the category of Arts and Culture. She won the Woman on Fire Award 2019 in the category of Best Performer as well. Also, she has received recognition from the Peruvian community in Canada as “Peruvian Pride” (Orgullo Peruano) and Ambassador of Peruvian dances in Canada for her great artistic trajectory and hard work to promote Peruvian dances in the Latin and Canadian community. She was nominated to the Eminence Awards for the Cultural Awareness and Preservation category and to the 10 Most Influential Hispanic Canadians.
She has been passionate about dance since a very early age. She has been involved in fitness, dance and the performing arts her entire life and has extensive training in gymnastics, fitness, Arabic, Peruvian and Latin dances. Soraya worked for a variety of dance companies in Peru and Canada. She was part of the ballet of the circus of the famous Peruvian TV show “Mil Oficios” and also performed at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games Closing Ceremony as well as very well known dance congresses, festivals and shows in Peru, Bermuda, USA, Puerto Rico, France, Spain and Canada. She was featured in music videos of singers Hadel Toma (Assyria), Senthil Kumaran and Shagana (Tamil), Teria Morada (Canada), and Sensei Musica (Peru-Canada), Nando Boom (Panama) & Papayo (Venezuela). Soraya choreographed and performed for the concerts of singers Manuel Donayre (Peru), Rosario Arce (Bolivia) and Leo Rey (Chile). She was also the back-up dancer of American actress and model Nargis Fakhri as well as Toronto singers Trish Antoine, Manny Cardenas and Band, Latin Train Band, Peruvian salsero Willy Rivera and cumbia singer Chinoclon. She was part of the international cast of “Follow Your Heart” – a Middle Eastern Spectacle produced by Evolution Dance Theatre. Currently, she performs with her own dance company Inspiracion Latina & Estampa Peruana around Toronto and the GTA. Soraya appeared in several commercials including Wet’n’Wild Water Park commercial, CIBC Run for the Cure commercial and together with Inspiracion Latina Dance Company & School were featured in a Canon commercial aired on National TV and online.
Over the last 15 years, Soraya has shared her passion for dancing with her students. Along with dancing, she is a group fitness instructor. Soraya has taught a variety of fitness classes including Aerobics, Steps, Cardio Salsa, Sexy Latin dance for women and Dance cardio in which she adds her Latin flair. With her combination of fitness and dancing skills, Soraya aims not only to assist others on the path to fitness but to conduct classes that are run and energetic and unleash the hidden dancer in her students.
